The
driver in question was in fact François Chatriot. This Saturday, the last
foreign winner of the Boucles in 1994, in a 4WD Toyota Celica, and the former
two-times French rally champion reformed the victorious duo of sixteen years
past with Denis Giraudet.Unfortunately, although driving a spectacular
Mazda RX-7 Gr.B (belonging to Christophe Jacob), they were forced to bow out at
a very early stage due to clutch problems.
For
twelve hours, 289 crews battled it out in winter conditions which made the
course particularly slippery. In the end, it was Bruno Thiry, greatly
assisted by the very tricky road conditions which favoured his all-wheel
traction, who imposed himself in his Audi Quattro during this 5th
edition of the Legend Boucles de Spa.The
event attracted tens of thousands of spectators. It
was a full-on show. Go on!
