On Sunday 4 July, the Atomium and Gordon Finest
Beers will welcome the arrival of the first stage of the Tour de France. The
pack will arrive from Rotterdam and then set off for Spa the next day. It is
the tenth time in the history of the Tour de France that the route has included
a stop on Brussels territory. This year also marks the 65th birthday of Eddy
Merckx, the world-famous cyclist whose name is virtually synonymous with the
Tour de France. The arrival of this completely flat stage will take place in
front of the King Baudouin Stadium. It is hard to imagine that the arrival will
be anything other than a sprint. Here’s a toast to all the competitors, either
on their arrival or on the day after, from the VIP village located on the Place
des Palais!
